Hi

One of my guppies this morning had what to me first appeared as raised scales only on one side. I thought it was dropsy and moved her to a qt tank with Epsom salts. Once in there it now looks a little different, maybe Columnaris.

Here are some pics (sorry for the quality)

If you guys can work it out, what do you think?

are the scales sticking up or have they just turned white?

It looks like they sticking out a bit. I have treated both the qt tank and main tank just now with Tetracycline just in case

Unfortunately most meds are hard to get in Australia. I also have Tri Sulfa.

These are the only to antibiotics we can get here. I could order some from the States but would either take to long or cost to much in shipping if customs don't confiscate it lol

I think you have Furan2 in Australia?
Often with dropsy by the time a fish looks like that the damage is too far along internally for the fish to make a recovery.
I can't tell by pics though.

IMO, the pathagen looks like "Saddleback" Aka: Columnaris. The treatment would be an antibiotic, but probably better to euthanize.

I have posted more pics. Not sure why this is happening, only a couple of months ago the fish had camallanus worms, now this :-(

Looks like dropsy which is just a symptom of some internal bacterial infection...
Some fish are weak and never fully recover from issues sometimes?
I would watch main tank..Any others show and would get Furan going...
Columnaris needs Kannamycin and furan2 together so atleast you can get the furan..
I think the antibiotics have been worn out by mis use...
My favorite links on columnaris ;

Funny on the other side of the world I have the same exact air stone you have in pic ! Some things get everywhere !

Thanks for the reply. Some fish in the main guppy tank are swimming a little funny. Her sister is swimming almost completely with her head pointing straight up.

I forgot to mention, for some reason I'm also getting ammonia readings from that tank. It's been running for over a year.

Possibly the camallanus treatment damaged the beneficial bacteria?
Get on water changes to dilute the ammonia and add a little extra prime every 2 days to help convert the ammonia to less toxic form. The prime will convert for 2 days and if by then the filter does not remove it you need to re dose. I usually combine the water change and extra prime together to help move things along in the right direction.
The head up sounds like a swim bladder issue which falls in line with the dropsy showing you something is going on with fish internally..I am guessing some form of bacterial infection...

The sick fish is swimming fine, it's her "sister" that is acting strange but all my female's have very large abdomens. I do the whole pea feeding once a week to all my fish.
