Hello, my female marble VT Betta (Pepper) seems to have what looks like cataracts forming on BOTH of her eyes. She lives with 9 other females and 2 marble algae eaters, and shares water with 4 VT males.

Upon close inspection of the other fish, I have not found any showing the same signs.

Could she be going blind? Medical or bacterial/viral? Quarantine?

Sorry I don't have a picture.

Any info helpful, as I've never had a fish go blind. Thanks!

This condition commonly known as cloudy eye is normally a result of poor water quality, more specifically prolonged exposure to high ammonia and nitrite, or keeping fish in water with a very high nitrate content. There are other reasons but nine times out of ten deteriorating water quality is the cause.

What is the current tank size, water parameters, and water change schedule?
