Occasionally you might buy a kit that's going bad. No real way to tell when you buy it. But does happen occasionally.

If you test right after a pwc you may not get accurate readings, wait until the tank has cycled a few runs of water turn over and test again.

NH3 stays about .25ppm.
NO2 is still hitting 2.0ppm.

I'm not really sure how long I'll need to battle this before the bacteria takes over and does the rest for me.

Today I noticed the fish were swimming around the tank near the surface and had about 90% of their colors back. I'm wondering if the 6 day black out has been bumming them out.

NH3 has now been at 0ppm for about 24hrs.
NO2 is still around 2.0pmm
NO3 is 5ppm.

Fish are doing well. They're all hiding behind the stump I put in there so I've been trying to force them to come out into the open area for feeding so for the moment they are steadily patrolling and spitting at imaginary insects I think.

I'm doing only about 1 50% water change per day now.

Sounds like an advertisement for the fishless cycle! Not only is it easier on the fish, but it appears to be a lot less work....

Good luck, I hope it all works out.
