torn tail

I have a few fancy guppies in a 10gal, and I noticed today that one had a ripped tail. He has (had) a long beautiful solid black delta tail, and it tore almost completely in half. The tear was bleeding and became bright red. I have no idea how it happened, but he seems (understandably) stressed. I know he's just a guppy, but is there anything I should/can do for a wound like this? I've never dealt with any wounds before.

Do you think he tore it on a decoration? Or maybe it got stuck in the filter intake? Anyway, just keep the water really clean, and he should heal up fine. I have dealt with that with my bettas....No fun.
