Why did my guppy die?

It started with a dark patch at the base of his tail. Then finrot followed, then dropsy. The base of his tail is dark and swollen, it's the widest part of him. Is this a tumor/cyst? My other 2 fish seem fine.

In the photo it looks like there might be ick. No signs of ick in the tank.

Doesn't look at all like Ick. There would be defined white spots.

Looks more like what you said, a tumor or cyst and hence why your other fish are fine.

I have had that "pinecone" thing happen to my guppies before, usually on the caudal pendecule. Not sure what causes it. Maybe too much salt, or rust? Or it very well could just be natural turmor or something. Dosen't seem contagious.
