I have a black sponge that I'm not sure if I need to get rid of not. It is growing in a zoa colony and seems to be choking them out. When I moved everything to the new tank I dipped some things that had hair algae and thought it would kill the sponge too, but it didn't. The zoa colony broke in two and the black sponge seems to be thriving on both pieces. I actually like the sponge now, but wonder if it will take over? If so, how do I get rid of it?

Hit or miss. It can another but I haven't seen it grow too much. I have some with my zoas too but it never did much other than irritate.
