"orange" sand

So, I have been winning the battle for my tank. I'm having a hair algae problem because my filters need replaced in my RO/DI and didn't know it. Now I have several orange spots in my sand bed. It isn't slimy or anything like I have seen cyano to be, I'm assuming that is what it is. Is this the case?

Do you think maybe Diatoms? I know it's usually brown, but the start of it may look orangish.

I've literally never seen anything this orange besides...well...an orange.

You got me then. I've got some orange corraline algea, but I doubt thats it, not on the sand bed.
I'll be following... like to know what it is too!!
