EVERYWHERE in my protein skimmer and in my overflow. They seem to be growing at an alarming rate, I took one out and it feels hard and porous, but it has finger-like structures comming out of the tops of them. They're too small to take a picture of really...and they're in awkward spots. Is it a sponge or a fungus or what?? I can't find anything about them anywhere on the web.

looks like a q-tip sponge, I found member that posted a picture that looks identical, but I have like 50...in my skimmer and overflow lol.

Thanks

They could be Q-tips or just some other type of encrusting sponge. Mine like to grow in the shade. They are harmless filter feeders and will come and go as the nutriences flourish or decline.
