That's it. I want to give a big thanks to the head aquarium guy for the South American "zone". He let me go behind the public eye and see their growth tanks, breeder tanks, etc. ... extremely cool. Hope everyone enjoys!

Yeah, I couldn't get close to it because it hung out in the deep end of the pond... The guy told me its name--started with an A... similar to Arapoaha as I recall. The back portion of its tail looked almost like an arowana, but the front portion looked more like a Pike Cichlid of some sort.

Arapaima gigas.....the Pirarucu....a Osteoglossiforme related to the arowanas....can reach lengths of 12' or more.

Great SA tank pics, and I love the bowfin pics.
 
Nice pic's. I was at the tulsa zoo about a month ago visiting my fiancee's family. What part of Tulsa are you from?
 
ya know the Tulsa zoo isnt far from my house just about a mile or less
