DIY 5 gallon hex hood?

Does anyone have an idea of how to go about building a custom hood for a 5 gallon marine land hex aquarium? I was sitting here looking at it, trying to figure out a way to modify it for better lighting, then thought why not build a new one?

I have a 46gal hex that I picked up free. Had to build a top for it though, seems they don't make them for that style any more around here. I went to home depot, picked up plexiglas cut it to fit the top, took an old hood from a previous tank cut it to size and also grabbed pre made led lighting (strips) and screwed them inside the old hood. Works and looks pretty good too.
