modifying my HQI light

I have a 24" current usa outer orbit light fixture. it has a 150watt halide in the center and 4 t-5 actinics. i'm interested in converting it into a 250watt halide with the t-5's. so i'm thinking about pulling the old electronic ballast out and going to a external ballast rated for 250w and changing the fan. does any body know where i can get schematics or diagrams of the bulb and driver circuits for any HQI lights to get a basic theory of operation on how these bulbs fire up and run. has any one tried this and can give advise?

You will also have to change the sockets. The 150w bulbs and 250w bulbs have different ends so they both won't fit into the same socket.

how much larger are the 250w double ended bulbs? Do you know where i can find
parts like that?
