First time doing a planted tank and could use a little advise. I think it looks "ok" but could be much better.

Not sure what to put in from of the tree, maybe stones?

Tank is totally low tech btw, with some green tiger barb, dwarf African frog, apple snail, some platies and tetras.

Some rocks in the DW area and move the moss balls there also, perhaps placing some moss balls on the rock pile. Then you need to think about some type of carpet plant in that area to fill in but not detract from the "tree". What type of lighting and bulbs do you have?

I only have one 17w t5 bulb. Looking to get one of the beamswork 10k led.

The front plants are supposed to be dwarf sag so who knows what'll happen with that. The back are tort vals.

The tank habitants move the moss balls around all the time.

I don't think I'll have enough light for any carpeting plant.

I only root tab.

You might be able to grow 4 Leaf Clover, Marsilea quadrifolia. It can grow and spread in lower light.

This is it until weather is nice enough to order plants. Second pic you'll notice shrimp on clean up duty
