How do you attach mossy type plant to rocks or wood

Can anyone tell me how to attach the mossy type plants to rocks or to wood. I tryed the hair net thing but lost two fish due to them getting caught in it. any other suggestions Please and thanks ?

Black thread or staples have always worked for me.

But only the cotton sort....no polyester or it will stay forever.

Maybe try some nylon string. It won't rot and not too visible. Was thinking about using dental floss myself.
