When to remove baby java ferns ?

I'm pretty sure they are narrow leaf javas got them a few weeks ago. It was one main plant with 2-3 sprouting off one floated off and I lost it when I set it on a table while cleaning my fry tank :/ but I still have a few on there and they have little baby leaves and everything ? Do I pull them off or do hey release ? I've noticed that their roots are starting to float off off of the main leaf ?

I just don't want them coming off while I'm out of town and going into the filter !

I think they would be fine now, as long as you can tie them all to a twig or something.
