Can the black and white damsel be put with a gravity of 1.008-1.010?

Unfortunately I got them for free, and I decide to let them cycle my tank for me. The salinity is 1.012, I heard they could only go to 1.015. What if I slowly add the water till it's at 1.010? Or 1.008? The waters evaporated so I want to add more water.

Your salinity is way off. Saltwater critters need to be in 1.024. You need to keep up with topping your aquarium off to keep your salinity stable as well.
