"Low" seems to be the general answer. I don't honestly know what low is. I'm starting my first Fish-Only saltwater tank, and I'm about to put water in. In a couple weeks, I'm going to take my water in for testing to my dealer and add my first fish.
I researched damselfish, and learned to aim for the following:
Temp: 72-78 F
Gravity: 1.017-1.018
pH: 7.5-8.3

But when it comes to ammonia, nitrate, and nitrite, what should I look for? Is a 6 considered low, or a 2?

Thanks in advance!:fish1:

The salinity is low usually no lower than 1.020 to 1.025, the ph should be 8.1 to 8.4, The ammonia should be kept at 0 as well as the nitrites, nitrates you want to get them as low as possible 0 is best but usually .05 is what maximum but since you are doing a fish only this site says 10 to 40 Marine aquariums: Nitrates

What size tank are you getting and do please read the article on cycling before you start.
