I have a 5.5g with a Whisper 10i filter in it. It takes up about 1/4 of the tank space, I really want to get that filter out.

I want to make this a cherry shrimp tank or a betta tank, so I think a sponge filter would be best.
I have a 2"x2" piece of foam that I put an airline into. Will that be enough filtration for the tank?

Thanks!

I would put a rigid tube into the sponge and affix the airline to it, it'll work much better that way. It doesn't have to be a big one, I use 1/2" pvc on the ones I make.

Oh lovely! I'll have to look up how to do that. Do you put holes in the rigid tube? I'll start my research now :)
