I'm gonna drill my tank for an overflow. What size should I make my hole? It's a 60 gallon tank.

Should I make the opening big enough for a (1inch) 1.5inch or a (2inch) bulk head?

Are you drilling the bottom or the side? What kind of tank is this (reef, fowlr)?

1.5" should be fine. At 1.5, the max flow rate is around 1200gph which is way more than what your return will be pushing.

What is folwr? But I planned on drilling the side, but 1.5inch is what I was thinking about too.

Nevermind lol fish only with live rock. Yes I plan on running my tank like this for awhile until I feel comfortable enough to try some easy stuff like zoas, mushrooms and feather dusters

For a side drain, I would definitely go 1.5.

FOWLR is fish only with Live Rock. The type of tank you plan on creating can have an effect on how much flow you ultimately need.
