I have two hangon bio flter on my 90gal tank and was thinking of upgrading. I have 3in sand beds and 110pds of LR. I have a protine skimmer (cheap cyclone) and to power heads. The tank has been set up for about 2yrs.

I was looking at the Eheim filter and was wondering would it be better then the SUMPS? I'm talking pure performace...I know SUMPS are good to put skimmers and heaters in. I read it reduces overflow risk. Not sure what that is, but it that means the power goes out and the sump will over flow that could be bad. Open to suggestions. I have one butterfly and a few shrimp and a crab currently. Looking to increase my stock in the furture.

I was looking at the Mega flow sump filter...was not sure if it required an additional pump
