hood lighting question

I have a Aqueon Deluxe Full Fluorescent Hood, probably the most common hood you can find at any store. specs on store website:
24" Length
Frame-Top Opening: 23.25" L X 11.5" W
Black
1 - 18" 15 Watt Full

can i swap this bulb out with a stronger one to give off more light for plants? (i cannot buy new fixtures)

No you'll need a whole new fixture.

You can put a bulb in it that has a better color spectrum for plants (daylight ~6500k) but yeah if you want more intensity you will need to upgrade the entire fixture.

i am just looking around as i dont want to spend th money right now but would i need something like, Marineland LED Double Bright Aquarium Lighting System

www.fishneedit.com have some pretty cheap t5ho fixtures.

there are even cheaper fixtures on ebay by oddysea, not as high quality but get the job done 24" T5 HO Aquarium Light Hood Freshwater Plant 6500K 48 | eBay
