I just tried to restore my purigen and it looks like it is still brown. This is relatively new purigen, and this is the first time I tried to regenerate it.

Any suggestions? 20171216_161618-600x800.jpg

How long has it been in the bleach?
I used to soak mine for days and stir it along the way...
It will go 'new white' again..Maybe add more bleach...

Mine stayed brown even after a couple of day long bleach soakings. After thorough rinsing and soaking (with Prime added) it smelt like a dead carp on a 100 degree day. Sorry so graphic, but it really smelled.

I am waiting to see how this goes, as I am about to buy new ones - call me a skeptic, lol!
Usually it turns completely back to normal, but this batch just didn't after a week in beech.

I had a top on it, not sure if that makes a difference.

Going to reuse it anyway and see what happens.

So this is a comparison of two new packets and the two old ones that I left in bleach for 2 weeks, then in seachem safe, then seachem neutral regulator

They never turned close to what they were before, and actually seen smaller in size also.
Oh well, all 4 going into te fx6

Mine shrank after time also..I think I got over a year on most of mine..
I bet the old ones still get darker indicating they are effective ..
