lighting Question

does the light (PC lighting) have to be directly over the water or can I put a cover between it and the water, will it still work for corals!? :roll:
 
You can use the light with a glass top below it but it is much better without the top. Not only will you get better light penetration but you wont have to ever clean the glass top which will also affect how much light passes through.

Also, gas exchange for the tank will be much better without a top on it. You will see that most people run reef tanks without tops because of all the above problem I mentioned.
