I recently acquired an icecap 660 ballast wired to 4 endcaps (supporting 2 bulbs) and was wondering what you thought would be the best lighting setup for a:

Tank Information

  • 55 gallon
plants: glosso, Aponogeton crispus, dwarf sag, java fern, dwarf hairgrass
    Fish: 6 rainbowfish, 5 corys, 1 pleco
    tank length: 48"
    substrate: 3" of eco complete
    DIY CO2

My Thoughts
I thought I would purchase 4 new endcaps and rewire my setup to support 4 GE 40w bulbs from HD: 5000k, 6500k, and 2 6700k.

Questions for you :)
Do you believe it is better for the aquarium and/or more econimical for me to go with a 2 VHO 110w 6500k setup?

Do you suggest a different setup? If you suggest a different bulb setup, please include the kelvin or maybe a link to where to purchaase it online.

Thanks to all,
