Measuring VHO Bulbs

When you measure the length of a VHO bulb to you measure from the contacts or from the edge of the bulb?

Reason for asking, i've acquired some bulbs that measure 45" from edge to edge and i can't find bulbs that lenght. Everything i see is 48" or 46" and i can't modify the hood to fit 48".

I would think its pin to pin...I have 60 inch bulbs on mine and Im pretty sure thats what I did.Hope this helps.

A "46.5" inch VHO lamp only measures about 45". They are closer 46.5" once installed and including the end caps. I'm pretty sure what you have is a "46.5" inch lamp.
