Old Aquarium

Hi There, I have been given a beautiful old 90 gal aquarium that has been freshly re-siliconed.

It's a rather old tank, has no middle support (and appears to have never had), and very thick glass. It is missing a small section of the black trim around the bottum. But other then that, looks as good as new.

Is there anything I should do (besides clean it) specially for it?

You might consider a wooden molding brace around the bottom, since there is trim missing. The trim is structural, not just decorative.

Most 90s have a center brace, you could add one easily by siliconing in a horizontal strip of glass at the top center.

Since this tank has had broken trim and been re-siliconed, make sure you do a test fill in an area you don't mind getting wet. Fill the tank with a weight equivilant to the planned setup. I found with a used tank once that the test fill in the basement went fine, but my substrate was heavy enough to cause a leak in my living room!

My 75 gal has no center brace and extremely thick glass. SO far, no issues with either leaks or the floor falling in LOL
