I received a Rena XP1 today that I found a deal on. 50 bucks shipped to my door. Slightly used, with cycled media. I have a couple questions though.

The tubing has a "trumpet" type piece that screws into it, what exactly is this for?

The intake tube has a screw on cap at the top of it. What exactly is the purpose of this?

Thanks,

MIke

If I'm thinking of the right piece, the trumpet is a flow control valve if you want to tone back the flow. There's also a venturi in it if you want to use that.

The removable cap is how you prime the filter, use a funnel to fill up the tube before you hook up the quick disconnect lever to the canister.

Then, when you hook up to the canister it will fill the can and the tubing, getting you a good prime.

No. IIRC, it's not really threaded, just kinda barbed. I lost mine (all 4 I've had) long ago and just use a kitchen funnel.
