I finally got my replacement corals in from saltwaterfish.com(imo they are horrible to work with, will not use them again) anyway... Noticed inside the bag with an unknown coral, a little starfish. Did not add them to the tank yet, waiting to acclimate. Horrible picture while he is in the bag, but from what you can see... Is he safe to keep in the coral tank? It looks like it might be either a scroll coral or a flower pot. As per the starfish, appears to be a mini brittle star. Harmless filter feeder.
I'm sorry that you have had such trouble with your order. Most of my tank is from them and always had pretty good results. With how cold it has been around the country sadly shipping doesn't always make the best way of travel for most of our livestock.

Okay sweet. I had him floating in a net. Released him and he scurried under the rock. & I just had so many problems with them, which lead to a report to the BBB. Steps I wish I didn't have to take, but was forced to do so. I'm not bad mouthing them. Maybe they just weren't for me. I'll stick with liveaquaria. Anyway, SWF sent me out replacements, gotta post pictures and ask what they are, cause I have no idea. I'll do that tomorrow.

They send me these two corals out of five that they said were alive. They overnighted them to me during the summer, and this is how I unpacked them. I called and told them I thought they were dead, they said to give them a week or two and they'll come back. Nice enough I thought... Then when I called back, they said it was over their guarantee period and they wouldn't replace them.

I'll post pictures of the new coral when everything opens up. I'll try tomorrow but it'll be a few days till they open fully. As far as the picture with the starfish, based on the skeletal composition, I was thinking it was galaxea, but I am unsure.

This last one is for you Mr. X, I know the name of this one, but like the last time, it does not ship well and I need help if you are willing, to frag. I have zero experience in fragging. I'm willing to negotiate price or something for the help if if comes to it. If you can't help, no worries & my search will commence. Favite, blue symphodium, torch coral, trumpet coral, button coral, still think scroll coral, and a birds nest.
May I ask why you are concerned about fragging the birds nest? I had a massive one and would always accidentally break pieces off when I worked in the tank. Would simply glue a piece to another piece of rock or rubble with some Loctite gel and it would grow and do its thing. It is really that easy.

What concerns me about the birds nest, if you look at the base, it appears to be dying and spreading. The tips are white, though it's tough to see and there is a good sized portion between two branches that looks like it is dying also. Liveaquaria told me to frag to help preserve parts of it.

Just snap off pieces. It is really easy to frag.

I'd put some super glue gel over the bleaching part and see if that does the trick as well.

I'll help if I can, and no, I would not charge for it...lol. They are right though, it's easy to frag. Just break off the dead part taking with it some live tissue. That, more times than not, will stop it's recession. You can use coral cutters ( aka-nail clippers) to be more precise

About the very first coral you mentioned, it looks more like galaxea to me than flowerpot - just because of the very defined skeleton.

If it is galaxea, watch out for the sweepers, which are pretty powerful on this coral.
