    Penicillin and foul smell.

If you need to restore the bacteria colonies in the filter, then get hold of some BioSpira or Tetra SafeStart, both of these contain the bacteria needed for filtration and ammonia conversion, this will help speed up the process of cycling and will keep the fish happy... :)

    New SFF betta...

Well, all I can say is that's rubbish, my two SFFs were in community tanks in the pet shop, and they got along fine as far as I could see. The only problem would be the other fish nipping the SFF's fins, making him look ragged and sore... :( As for adding to your tank, I think you'd need a...

I'm an idiot!! The orandas have Ich!!!

Well today the tank looks beautiful, crystal clear and I haven't changed the water yet!!! Just need a decent brush to scrub down the driftwood and then that can go back in again... :D

    Do camera flashes affect fish?

I've not seen any effects of the flash on the fish here, but the visual effects (reflections, over exposure, red eyes (eeebil fishies!!!), cloudyness etc) mean it's pointless to use the flash, just use ambient light from around the tank aswell as the tank lights... :)

I'm an idiot!! The orandas have Ich!!!

I hope so, it's been so long since I started it all, but, it just goes to show, you don't need chemicals, just patience... :D Oh, and a good algae scrubber!!!

I'm an idiot!! The orandas have Ich!!!

Well, I haven't seen anything for a while now, so I have begun the process of returning the tank to normal, today I sterilised the substrate, fake plants and whatnot, and the driftwood is soaking (placed in near-boiling water) and will need a scrubbing as some fungus-like stuff seemed to form on...

    New SFF betta...

You should have seen the one that was in the tank he used to be in at the pet shop, his tail fin was about 1 & 1/4 inches long!!! Amazing!!! :D It's funny, I was reading back through my thread on my tank, and I said that Bettas were too frilly for me, but they have grown on me since I saw them...

    New SFF betta...

Looks good, but there's no lid, and in this house, we have to have lids as people complain about the light...

    New SFF betta...

It's 18" x 9.75" x 10", I had to dig up the first topic I did on that tank, posted here a looooong time ago!!! (mostly when I was still a novice fish keeper... ) http://www.aquariumadvice.com/forums/f15/not-so-new-and-not-so-huge-tank-that-i-may-set-up-82042.html

    New SFF betta...

Thanks, he's a great fish, very friendly, and just like the first one, he knows when it's feeding time!!! :D And yes, I do have water spots, the lid is terrible for dribbling condensation over the sides, it's a cheapo vacuum-formed one, not exactly the best, and it's full of holes I have made...

    New SFF betta...

Stoopid SD card and stoopid batteries not lasting more than 5 minutes, finally got some pictures, but some were lost due to a problem with said SD card... It took a while to get some pictures of the little fella, mainly cos he moved before the camera could focus on him, or he zipped off...

    New SFF betta...

Well, he's certainly settled in, he's very active and interactive, and I think he's got a lot of friends to play with, or at least try to eat then spit out!!! I need to top up the water though, with it getting colder here evaporation is practically sucking the water out!!! :drain:

    New SFF betta...

Yeah, I have toned the outlet down using a piece of Fluval3 filter sponge, so it's not as flowy in there now and he's happy exploring his new home... :) And there's a calm spot in the opposite corner of the filter, so that's where he's been hanging out mostly when not exploring... :) He's been...
