URGENT Please advise on this Crack / Scratch

Hard to tell from the photos but I would be wary that it is a crack especially since it appears to go all the way to the edge of the pane. You might try to view it with a flashlight at an angle and try to identify how deep into the pane it goes.

Anybody using the new Silent Giant air pump?

I stumbled on the new-ish Silent Giant air pump made by Hydra Aquatics today. Looks to be pretty quiet for the size but there doesn't seem to be much info on it other than from the seller. Anybody using this one by chance?

Best fish to pair with/eat duckweed?

I'm setting up an outdoor 150 gallon stock tank "pond" that I plan to keep covered with duckweed and possibly a waterlily. The idea is it will give me a place to both keep fish and provide drinking water for several honey bee colonies on my property. Bees will drown themselves in open water so...

    Walltanks vs Bulit in Tank?

Yes it is a slim tank no doubt. I'm not against a larger tank by any means but I'm running into placement issues in regards to visibility vs location. Lots of room in the basement for a big tank but nobody will see it down there. I'd like to put a 150 gallon in the living room but the...

    Walltanks vs Bulit in Tank?

I'm considering putting up an in-wall tank between my living room and garage. I know this has been done and I'm currently considering an Aquamaxx or one of the tanks from Walltanks. Aquamaxx is low iron glass and 47 by 18 by 18 (64 gallon version) and the Walltank is acrylic and 60 by 8 by 24...

Fish that don't eat their young?

Aside from cichlids and white cloud mountain minnows are there any other fish that actually take care of their young rather than making them lunch?

165g tank with 55g sump - Breeding suggestions?

I have a 165g tank with a 55g sump that currently holds 5 large fancy goldfish and its main purpose is to "fuel" an aquaponics grow bed in my front yard (water is pumped outdoors and then gravity drains back to the tank.) This is my second year with the tank and I moved it inside so I don't...

Considering a large used acrylic tank? Worth the work?

I have a lead on a 72 x 24 x 24 acrylic tank. Formerly housed fish and presently has a reptile in it but they tell me it holds water. Seller is asking $150 and includes a stand. I haven't seen it in person yet but the owner says it does have a few scratches. Price seems really good but I'm...

59" inch alcove - What size tank?

I have an alcove that measures 59" wide (long in tank dimensions) that I would like to put a tank into. If I had one more inch I could fit a 150g long in there but next to removing drywall on each side to make it fit I'm an inch shy. I know I could go to a 150g tall or any other tank with a...

Cycling an aquaponics tank with media from outdoor pond?

I'm in the midst of cycling a 185 gallon tank for use with aquaponics. I'm still currently fishless but I had a friend who keeps a large outdoor koi/goldfish pond offer me some of their spring surplus of fish. Would there be any problem with taking some gravel from the outdoor pond to help my...

Fish selection for a 185 gallon - viewing from top only

Any suggestions on a fancy to keep for exclusive top down viewing? Maybe a fantail or something? (Celestials and bubble eyes give me the creeps.)

Fish selection for a 185 gallon - viewing from top only

Actually fancy goldfish is what I've been leaning towards the most as some of the the fantail varieties look pretty nice from above. I've thought about guppies but don't they need to be up in the mid to high 70's? Also, any recommendations on population control? =)

Fish selection for a 185 gallon - viewing from top only

I'm in the process of building an aquaponics setup that I've been planning on and off for the last few years. My fish tank is finally up and and comes in at 185 gallons give or take. In truth the purpose of the fish in my case is simply to create waste for the plants as I don't plan on eating...

    Hard Water for Goldfish?

The 330ppm is coming from a digital TDS meter I have and the 216ppm for sodium is from the well test that was done when we moved in.

    Hard Water for Goldfish?

We just moved to a new house this past fall and we are now on well water. Our water is fairly hard (330 ppm) and it is mostly sodium (216ppm). Does anybody know if this will be an issue for goldfish or koi?
