    Pearl Gouramis

In my opinion, a 75L (~20 gal.) tank is a bit small for two Pearl Gouramis. I think it may be doable, however I would not recommend adding many more fish if you just have the two Pearls in the tank for now. I like to keep Pearls in a 110L (~29gal.) or larger aquarium.

    Tannins water

There are a couple different ways you could keep some tannins in the water as Delapool said. If you want, there are often commercial products that can be found at your lfs or online. I personally (being a cheap graduate student) like to go the route of Oak leaves since they are plentiful. I...

    low light surface cover plant?

Do you want floating plants, or plants that are actually rooted? If you want floating plants, you can go with just about any of them: Duckweed, Dwarf Water Lettuce, Amazon Frogbit, etc. If you ware wanting rooted plants, you could do something like Moneywort and allow it to grow up to the...

    5g Betta

This is my 5g Betta tank I brought with me to UT. He is a handsome Super Delta male and has some Ramshorn snails as a clean up crew (though he often attacks them :nono: ) Lighting is a 13W CFL on for 10hrs a day and the plants are: Crypt spiralis, Rotala rotundifolia, Red Tiger Lotus...

    Help with snails ASAP

Ooops, now that I take a closer look the eggs look like Nerite. However the snail in the pic is a Ramshorn IMO. My mistake. Zebra Nerite Snail .:. Neritina natalensis sp. "Zebra" .:. Freshwater Aquarium Snail Information Page

    African dwarf frog info

Okay, here it goes for a little care sheet: African Dwarf Frogs are great little fully aquatic critters. As has been stated, they need to swim to the surface of the water to take a breath of air. This means 2 things. First of all, make sure you keep them in a tank that isn't more than 15"...

    Help with snails ASAP

Looks like Ramshorn Snails. I personally love 'em. Just avoid overfeeding the tank they are in or else you will experience a population explosion. Ramshorn Snail .:. Planorbis rubrum .:. Freshwater Aquarium Snail Species Information Page

    High Nitrites...NEED HELP!!!

Is there any chance that you forgot to dechlorinate the water you added it? This could have killed some your beneficial bacteria, thrown off the cycle and started the mini-cycle you are experincing. Keep up the good work with the daily PWC's until the tank stabilizes again.

    Betta fish

I've always fed mine pellets, the most important thing is to vary their diet. I give mine pellets, bloodworms, mosquito larvae, and a pea occasional to help with digestion.

    First encounter with Algae :)

That's okay, I was just wanting to make sure you knew. Glad to hear you are getting them a nice big tank!

    First encounter with Algae :)

Okay, I'd say more than likely it is due to excess nitrates. You have a very heavily stocked tank, especially with the Bristlenose. Once you see what your nitrates really are you can adjust accordingly. I'm gonna say they are probably a smidge high for what you want in a planted tank (10ppm...

    First encounter with Algae :)

My honest opinion is that problem is possibly stemming from excessive nitrates. Have you tested your water with the API liquid test for nitrates? I cannot recommend anyone use a nitrogen fertilizer based off of test strip results. What is the tank size and the stocking? Pardon the...

    First encounter with Algae :)

I agree that test strips are very unreliable. Since Java Fern and Anubias are such slow growers, I wouldn't see them keeping nitrates at 0 in anything more than a minuscule stocking. Get an API liquid test before you worry too much about ferts. I have several low-medium light setups like...

    Help, Bettas fought!

My divider is not see through. At first I sanded it (acrylic) to give it a frosted effect. However I saw quickly that they were getting stressed so I made it to where they can't see through it any more. My biggest thing is to try and grant them a speedy recovery. Thanks for the suggestions.
