Thank you! I feel better after reading your response. Do you think I should continue to float it in the colander for a while or does it not matter? The tank is spacious and it seems a little frazzled moving around right now which in turn is freaking out the other goldfish a bit.
I have her floating in a colander for now and I dosed her with some API Stress Coat +. I don't know what else to do. I was going to clean the tank today anyway, so I'm getting ready to do that, too, and remove all decorations.
It looks so bad and it was entirely my fault.
I don't know how but my celestial eye got stuck in one of the decorations in the tank. It was a struggle to get her out but she did, she was frantic when she got out and she's lost a lot of scales on her back. She's now sitting at the bottom of the tank facing a corner. I can't lose her like...
I just woke up and went downstairs, looked at my tank in passing, and saw that one of my neon tetra was at the bottom of it. It's stuck on it's side and can't flip itself over though it looks like it wants to be active and is still breathing regularly. This leads me to guess something is wrong...
I don't have any one in my life who shares the hobby. It's nice not to be the weird person talking about her pet fish because everyone is that person here lol.
Perhaps she's still adjusting to the tank? I got a female betta about the same time from petsmart and she's behaving relatively the same at this moment. They aren't kept in good conditions at all in the chain stores, I'm thinking it has to do with that. Even the mucus-y looking eye. Maybe she...
Are you supplying them with a source of calcium? Without a proper source they can develop holes in their shells or weak, thin spots which can be fatal. Especially with mysteries as they grow fast and quite large. I keep cuttlefish bone in my tanks with snails after learning the hard way...
Unfortunately, they're true to their name. Maybe pull the apples into a separate tank until you can get a handle on the assassins. Even if it's just a small tank for temporary purposes.
Cut back on how much food you put in the tank and do the old lettuce trick. Put a leaf of lettuce at the...
I got an air pump and bubbler for my goldfish tank. I'd love to get something more decorative but this will do for now. Not 100% sure on the placement but I'm hoping it will get some better exchange and circulation going.
:)
