Moving in a few months - need advice!

If your trip is only a short one like you said, I wouldn't even neccesarily worry about using a cooler and all that. I moved my 10gal about a year a half ago on a 2-2 1/2 hour trip. I just lowered the water level in the tank to keep it from sloshing all over the car, and removed any heavy...

    High Ph tap water?

Howdy all, I have been having problems recently with the Ph in my 10 gal, for some reason over the last month my ph has been hovering around 7.3, I'd prefer it around 6.8, but usually have it at about 7.0. I tested the ph in my tap water and it is through the roof! I don't know if this has...

Keeping our tanks cool in the summer?

There are two ways I know of to keep a tank cool. One is leaving the cover off (unless you have jumpers of course), and letting a fan blow across the water's surface. Or you could try floating a bag of ice.

    Cat Food for fish??????

I don't know about fish eating catfood, but one of my cats likes to eat fish food! He waits 'til I am done feeding, then licks any flake crumbs off the table.

    DRIFTWOOD

I'm not sure on this, but I would think any absorption would be minute.... is it necessary to medicate the whole tank? Or is it possible to temporarily remove the driftwood while you're medicating? Just thought I'd throw some ideas out there. :)

    Greetings from Northern California too!

Cory cats are one of my favs! I have only 5 right now, four of which are all aeneus varieties - two bronze, one albino, one other varient I can't remember the name of - and I have one delphax as well. I have to physically stop myself from buying more when I go to the fish store or else I'd buy 5...

    Greetings from Northern California too!

Yeah the striped kuhlis, I inherited them with my first 10-gal from a friend that moved out of state. I don't know how long she had them before me, but I had them about 7 years before they died. A few days apart too so I was pretty bummed. And sarcasm doesn't carry well with me either, I'm very...

    Greetings from Northern California too!

I do water changes on all my tanks once a month - usually around 25-50% along with a clean filter cartridge. I think I'm a good fish parent, learned most everything from watching my dad growing up... and learning from his mistakes! My oldest fish were a pair of 7+ year old kuhli loaches, so I...

    Greetings from Northern California too!

Hello all, just thought I'd say howdy and hello to everyone. I'm 24, recently engaged, and have had freshwater/tropical aquariums almost my whole life, and thanks to my dad's influence I am more of a shoot-from-the-hip type aquariust rather than doing everything by the book. I recently jumped...

    Sick ADF

Here's the update as of this morning: One fungus clear tab is used per ten gallons of water so I broke the tab into four pieces and then one of the pieces into pieces again. I did this so I could administer the meds over time, just in case the frogs are sensitive to the meds. I've put about 1/2...

    Sick ADF

Thanks for the info and the welcome... as of my posting yesterday morning the sick frog now has a cotton like tuft of its back, and the not-sick frog now has some white spotting on it's body. So I'm pretty sure I have a fungus problem. I've never had to medicate my frogs before, but I'm trying...

where to find cheap aquarium stand?

I use a microwave stand, mine has wheels on the bottom which makes it great for moving the tank around. Under the tank are two shelves - the bottom most has doors and this is where I keep all the fish doo-dads, and since the whole set up is in my living room I use the top 'open' shelf for...

    Sick ADF

I have two three-year-old ADFs in a 2.5 hex. Ph is in the low 7's, temp is in the mid 70's. I do a partial water change every month with Amquel+ to detoxify. My problem is that one of the frogs has gotten 'funky'... it's eyes are all cloudy and the head and back have a white-ish appearance...
