I bleach everything.. I even rinse well and add water and fish when I scrub beanies. I use prime as a water conditioner and have a tad extra in the water holding tank so it eliminates any residue. If they air dry it is also gone. Same with nets. The get dipped in a bleach solution, run water...

If you bought from same place they could be carrying disease from the shop. Bettas are not kept in the best conditions. Try another source.

Bettas don't need cycled tanks like other fish.. they are air breathers. My bettas in beanies get 90% water change every other day. The barracks get 80% water change every third day. Fish are fine and love the fresh water. Water is not aged but treated and used. Keep temp and ph consistant and...

Don't use salt at all. If you have hard water it may fray the fins. A little r/o added to your water will soften it. Drinking water from walmart is r/o. Or run your water thru peat, add dechlor and that may help. San antonio water about destroyed most of my bettas fins and caused failed spawns...

Big difference with nls. My fish prefer this to frozen and have good color and health. Worth every penny.

I don't have problems with fin rot but use sulpha tmp if it starts to show. And lots of water changes will help.

Get rid of or clean with bleach everything associated with the velvet. I have hundreds of bettas and velvet is nothing to mess with. You will develop a resistant strain if you don't agressivly get rid of it.
