is there a male/ female ratio i should adhere to with platies? i know they are rampant breeders, i just don't know if a male would harrass a single female to death.
that's a great looking tank. i nearly bought one similar to that a few months ago but my wife wouldn't have been too pleased. so i opted for an xbox360 instead. if we ever move to a bigger house i'm sure i'll get one then. good luck with the tank
sadly he was dead when i got home from work this evening.
the bloating that he experienced was probably just over eating as it subsided daily. after 3 days he was back to his normal shape.
i've only had him for about 6 months, he wasn't even fully grown, he still had a fair bit to go.

are live bloodworm a compatible food for a betta? i put a small bag of them into my tank nearly 2 weeks ago. unfortunatly, i didn't realise that feeding the entire bag would result in over feeding all the fish. the betta was extremely bloated, so i fasted the tank until all sizes were returned...
thanks for the advice. the part i'm going to follow at the moment is not to add. i think i'll wait till the betta calms down a bit, or i can house the fish properley. either way, i'll do my homework before adding any more fish.
can anyone give me some ideas on a bottom feeder that doesn't grow too big. i have an 18g tank with 1 male betta, 1 hill stream loach, 4 white clouds and 1 male fancy guppy. only the betta isn't fully grown.
i know there are a few discrepancies with the compatability of some of these fish...
i used to check on a weekly basis but when they never changed from 0ppm i decided it was a waste of time. now i check the nitrate levels maybe 2/3 times a month or if things don't look good in there.
