    Check out my clam.......

I have two of the dimmable taotronics that you hear so much about on this forum. They do work great. My tank is 24 deep and my lights are about 8" above the water line. I recently found a chip of monti in the corner on the sand and all it's polyps were out and happy. So far the clam has been...

Here's a question that I would like answered. I feed BRS reef chili to my corals. Will that work for the clam? Target feed it?

What kind filtration should I be using? Is a canister necessary or would a hob be enough? What water tests would I need to do for a lake Malawi setup? PH, Kh..... Anything else?

    Cichlids in a classroom

Probably a 55g just cause they are so cheap and my school is fitting the bill. My school will support me on it a little. The maintenance staff will help with feedings during vacations. Are cichlids that sensitive that I should fear small fluctuations over breaks etc. ? Taking them home is out...

    Cichlids in a classroom

So, as you may guess based on the name I teach biology in a high school. I spend a fair amount of time on this site on the saltwater side for a tank at home. I am venturing to the freshwater side of the aisle becauseI have a student that is offering me some yellow lab cichlids. I am considering...

    Doug's 250, now 300, in wall build

Vacuuming the sand is an interesting topic. Some say don't do it. Others say you should. Where does everyone stand on this? I never have in the year I've had my tank but I definitely think it is harboring some nutrients. Is it ok to start vacuuming if I never have and how would I go about it...

    Candy cane parasite?

Any thoughts folks? Does anyone know of any good dip products besides iodine. I am afraid that iodine could damage the coral.

    Candy cane parasite?

Here's a pic. The little dark spot is the hole where the mystery guest pops out of. You can see how the head is misshaped.
