You could look for rescues in your area. Craigsliat is another good option. And you could also try reptile stores. Sometimes they will take them in. What kind is it?

Oh he looks great! Don't get me wrong. He is quite the amazing fish :) I was just mentioning it to make sure you have thought about what you are going to do when he does get huge. But yeah it is quite unique to see one in captivity I feel. I look forward to seeing updates on him :)

Yeah. I was doing some research and it is pretty unanimous that alligator gar shouldn't even be kept in a home aquarium because they can get over 6'. So unless you have at least a 1000 gallon tank I would recommend finding it a new home with a tank big enough for it such as an aquarium.

It doesn't necessarily need it. Just make sure to provide hides for it. And if Lola has destructive tendencies I would suggest using heavy stackable rocks or bricks like you can find at Lowes or home depot. Just make sure that you wash them before you put them in the tank.

You might could try an adult red tailed shark or something similar. As long as it is simi aggressive and fast it should be good

My best guess, since I am not very familiar with that area, would be a three-striped mud turtle but the shell is quite dirty so it is hard to tell. Try checking out this site :) http://www.empireoftheturtle.com/florida_turtle.htm

They should be. I have seen turtles under frozen ponds. But I would break the ice as soon as possible and maybe invest in a heater. How thick is the ice when it freezes?

Most definitely! Red eared sliders are super hardy! And you have plenty of room for a few :) and to answer all your questions
1) you can feed them turtle pellets that you can get from most pet stores as well as some feeder fish every now and then.
2) yes 600 gallons is big enough.
3) no...
