Update : The bichirs has been QT in a 10gal with 1 treatment of jungle labs. the parasites were gone 2 days after adding the meds. I keep them in the QT tank for 6 days and notice the a few parasite has returned on the bichirs stomach (the one pictured). I did a 25% water change and add the med...

thanks all for their suggestions. meegoosh where can I find the article about pontaneous recoveries? gzeiger brings up a good point. If the QT'd bichir was infected in the big tank, there could be eggs or swimming parasite left in there right, does that mean i need to do a 100% water change...

holy cow! all the :uzi:worms are gone now :silly:!!!! how long am I supposed to keep them in the QT tank?

thanks for looking into it for me. the affected one at least 100s on it! it gives me goose bumps just thinking about it. i just got bottle of the jungle labs for $4.99, will start the treatment tonight.

it's not the only fish. two other jack dempsey and a small bichir (new member). they don't have any on them. I will QT the sick one in a 10 gallon and use Jungle Laboratories Corporation unless someone has a better idea...:troop:

i have 2 bichirs for almost a year, bought them when they were less than 3 inches long. recently one of them (bigger one) has developed a redness around its head and he's not eating and "breathing" heavily.... tank mate : 2 jack Dempesy, 1 biichir diet : frozen lean beef, pellet food, frozen...

i do add "Aqua safe" to the tap water, let it sit for an hour before pouring it into my tank.

I have a 14 gallon FW tank which I though had gone through the fishless cycle. I started by adding aqua safe to a full tank of tap water with gravel and live plants in it, then threw a raw shrimp in there and let it sit for a week. The water was cloudy after 4 days then began to clear up...
