Remember you get what you pay for ! And for that matter if your buying it off ebay make sure to check sellers comments for other buyers remarks as you may be stuck with your purchase if it works or not ... and from what i have heard Odessya products are from overseas ... but no one really knows...
well if your using Ro water you will need to add buffer ... your tests would tell you this though ... your RO water should be around 7 something ... and adding the buffer bumps it to 8.3 ish .
but Instant Ocean salt has a low calcium (9.0 or 361mg/Kg) but using a test kit to see where your...
My fluval 404 does that as well ... Make sure you check the seals and intake / outgoing tubes to the tank to make sure they're all sealed and not sucking in air. I am about to toss my fluval in the dumpster myself just for that reason ... however fx5 isnt cheap and is another story hehe.
I have a ph pointed sorta up ... it has a spinner on it and is constantly turning which breaks the surface of the water. I also have a PITA fluval 404 that shoots a bunch of micro bubbles into the tank. hehe which is going in the garbage soon as i have a better solution in place for a while...
Yea I did 10 % last night and did another 10 % this morning to get it to 1.030 of straight RO water. I added the buffer in the pale and had a PH in there as well I let it mix for a couple hours before adding it ... I was thinking I would wait and do another one tonight .. but i can wait 2 days...
For about 9 months I have done PWC's and always made sure my water going into the tank was at 1.023 - 1.025, what i failed to do that i was told last night was check my salinity at the tank as water evaporates but salt stays in the water .... i didnt know that so i have always been topping off...

well I had that same hydro as well .... I had a friend come over with this refractometer and show me how off the hydrometer was off ... and i did the same thing ... with the black lines representing where i wanted to keep my salinity ... I ended up buying a Digital Pinpoint Salinity meter that...
Tank looks nice :)
Yes you can add live rock in the future, once your other half gets to see a nice couple chunks of live rock and some of the things that can come with it "hitchhikers" she will like it too .. its amazing at how long one can stare at the live rock alone and find something new...
Yea i wont personally buy anything off ebay unless its coming from a seller with 100% + rating with over 100 - 200 sales. Even then there are no guarentees. The old saying as mentioned above ... You get what you pay for ... there is a reason that its been around so long .. hehe
good luck if...
