i think there are 11 of them. they dart around so much its easy to lose count. 11 seems to be the most frequent count so i'm going with that. they are in a 10 gal with an adult male sailfin and an orange/black mollie along with a bottom feeder. been vacuuming the gravel and doing water changes daily. i've got the ammonia down to 2. just last week the ammonia was 8+. filter is due to be changed tomorrow.

bought a 10 gal started kit from the lfs. tank, hood, filter, net and a couple of plastic plants for $60. replaced the whisper filter with a penguin for $20 test kit for $25 about another $20-30 for assorted stuff like gravel, water conditioner, ammo-lock, different plastic plants, clear water...

you're lucky. mines been running for a bit over a month and i'm still dealing with ammonia and no nitrites.
