Plants that can survive a bleach dip?

Thank you for that information, I didn't know any of that. I looked up each plant along with their care requirements and they all seem to be within my experience level (beginner!). I really like the fern-like look of hygrophilia water wisteria, I'm going to see if any of the aquarium shops in my...

    Returning newbie here

I ordered an aquarium light for my quarantine plants and they've been doing well! No idea why this pic posts upside down though. I have a 6w Hygger clip-on light that I attach to the side of the container. It has white, blue, and red lights, but I didn't see any with green lights. It has a timer...

Plants that can survive a bleach dip?

I dipped them for 90 seconds (I set a timer), rinsed them with water after removal, then dipped them in a 3x strength dechlorinated water. I left them in the conditioned water for several minutes, did a quick rinse, then dipped them in another container of conditioned water for several more...

Plants that can survive a bleach dip?

Hi everyone, I was hoping to get recommendations on plants that do well after a bleach dip. No snails or yucky things welcome here! My java fern was the only one that looked relatively unaffected after the dip. My first banana plant turned brown and slimy so I discarded it, but my second...

Hi Aiken, Oh my gosh, I didn't know any of this. I was aware co2 booster liquid wasn't near as effective as actual co2 canister injection types, I think I read somewhere it was only 40% as effective. Goes to prove there's a lot of misinformation out there. I will discontinue using it then...

Hi Colin T, Thanks so much for your reply. Can you recommend a light appropriate for my tank size? And include a link? I wouldn't mind purchasing one for temporary use in my quarantine container, but then moving it to, and securing it to the lid of my permanent aquarium when it is cycled and...

    Returning newbie here

Hi everyone, I was active on this forum about 5 years ago when I tried starting up my small desktop aquarium. It ended up failing before it even cycled completely because I had a snail hitchhike on one of my plants. I scrapped the entire thing and now I'm ready to give it another try. I have...

    Banana plants looking okay?

Hi everyone, A few weeks ago I purchased two banana plants, they both had prolific banana-looking roots and a few small leaves. When I put them in my tank the leaves seemed to brown a bit and shrivel, and on one plant the banana roots appeared more brown than green, so I thought the plants...

    Little tank

Looks beautiful! I love heavily planted tanks so I too would choose to add more plants. Looks so healthy and pristine and so green!...I can imagine anything you put in it would thrive. :flowers: DesktopD

    Fishless tank...how to eradicate snails?

Hi all, Gah!....the unthinkable happened! I had hitchhikers on one of my live plants and just a few days ago I noticed tiny snails. They are very small, the largest I saw being maybe 3-4mm. I scooped out the two that were large enough, and wiped two tiny ones off the pump tubing and a...

    Thermometer recommendation?

Oh that's so cool, I didn't even know digital thermometers existed for aquariums. I saw they even have one that connects to a usb. I may just have to get one! Thanks! @

    Thermometer recommendation?

Can anyone recommend an attractive and accurate thermometer for a small 3.5 gallon tank? I've heard the adhesive strip sort does not work that well and I'd like something more attractive than the plain glass tube kind. And I would like for it not to take up too much space as I don't have much...

Orange pink slime part II...THE RETURN

It is weird. Even weirder that it's not happened to anyone else. I like to think I'm special!

For $200 and a trip to Aruba...name this Anubias

I purchased the Anubias and the Java Fern from Petco. I suppose the average Petco consumer is a novice like myself and doesn't delve too far into intricacies like specific varieties. I purchased these plants because I like the snail-free condition of the plants-in-a-tube.
