i did a fish in cycle on my 75 but i used 3 yellow labs and water changes water changes and more water changes. i waited about a month before i added more fish just to be safe. only way to get rid of the ammonia is water change and at the beginning i did 50% weekly and i used prime. good luck...
having plants with african cichlids is a bad idea they will shred them, you should get a lot more rock i used field stone or you could get slate or make your own. also make sure you have lots of filtration because you are going to want to over stock
thats one thing i wish i could have afforded to do was black sand and your tank looks great. btw all your pics were visable for me and they looked awsome.
i have a lot of rock and hiding spaces they seem to be doing alright these are pics from yesterday and a bit cloudy from me cleaning the whole tank but the little ones love the 75 gallon!!!!
I have about 14 dems in a 10 gallon grow out tank they are about 3/4"-1" when should i add them to my main and how long does it take them to grow?
Next i also have 3 yellow labs in that tank about 1"-1 1/4" when could i add those to my main?
in my main i have 1 female acei 3"-3 1/2", 3 yellow...
my dream tank would be a african cichlid malawi mbuna tank 300 gallon. a couple hundred pounds of rock 3D background and a bunch of cichlids you could have so much color and they have personalities plus they will breed like crazy with the amount of numbers of fish you could have
honestly look into a 29 gallon its 30x12 smaller but big enough to keep a nice school and your buddy could build a stand for that. you could keep 30 inches of fish in total (full size taken in consideration of course) i never really followed rules of stocking limits of course i never went crazy...
if your worried about filtration and you dont have room for it on back of the tank and dont want it on the side, look into aquatop cf series canister filters you could pick one up with uv for like 89-129 bucks not bad and really nice filters i got the cf500uv its great
i have a smaller chip like that on my back corner of my tank havent had any issues set my tank up in december of last year but that seems pretty big can you get a better pic a bit closer
i have one at the top left back corner pointed diagonally across the tank in the same direction as my output of my canister filter and another at the right back corner pointing straight up to the surface about 500-700gph a piece. my mbuna love it
