World of Fish in Richfield, or Aqualand in Minneapolis. They usually have a good selection, I'm just getting into cichlids, so disclaimer on that note.

Not really grains of salt, more like a sponge. Its not white either, more of a dark brown? The oto isn't exhibiting any signs of stress and seems to swim fine.

So I saw this on my oto the other day, couldn't get a good picture until now. The two spots I don't believe have grown. If anything they got smaller. Tank is at 0-ammo 0-ite 40-ate and a ph of about 8-8.2 Trie looking at pictures online, just trying to narrow search.

Because I had 7 fish that died and I realized that I had no clue what I was doing :) so I wanted constructive feedback about my new fish and plus I enjoy reading the information. I don't even have to go to the library!

I've read a little bit on snails and if I remember correctly this is natural. If there isn't enough oxygen in the water they will float to the top to get air. This is a good thing, and apparently a wonderful sight to see!
