    platy/molly/guppy-Need Help!

I'm not sure how big Mollies can get, but I have some Marigold Swordtails, and the females can get 3-4 inches long. The males stay 2 inches. They sure do grow.

omg please tell me this isn't a snail

I have snails in my tank and they are doing a wonderful job at cleaning up that dreadfull carpet algae. What's really neat is when they get on the glass and you can see their mouths or whatever you call it. It looks like a little pink dot moving underneith them.

This is a little long..I can't understand some people.

When I used to make home made toffees and sell them at the flee market, I made some varieties. One had Fennel which is like a licorice flavour. I labeled it "Licorice" and amazingly enough people would ask what kind of licorice it was.

    Where to go fishing?

I'd say avoid fish which look like they have frayed or tattered fins. If they look queezy, week, or pale, also avoid buying them. Look for things like fungas, fin rots, ich(white spots), parasites such as ticks, etc. Check for any abnormalities such as bulges or lumps in wierd places. I...

Excited 11yo and new 10g tank

I have the same kit. I bought it at PetsMart, and it comes with almost everything you need to get started except the rocks, water and fish. Well, it doesn't come with things for maintenance like a gravel vac either. IMO, you should have waited two weeks before getting a fish, but I can also...

    What is this plant!?

Is there another LFS in your area? If so, I'd take the specemin over to them and ask them what it is. If they say Hair Algae, then rais hell with the store that sold it to you for infesting your tank. The stuff is a bit of a PITA because if it's not kept away from your filter, it can work...

    What is this plant!?

Sounds like an interesting plant from what I have been reading doing a little googling. http://www.aqualandpetsplus.com/Plant,%20Java%20Moss.htm I'm wondering if a plant like that can help with the carpet algae problem that I've been having by competing for space, that is if it's available...

    What is this plant!?

It looks like hair algae to me. Did you buy this, or did it just form in your tank?

    snails! snails! snails!

I got snails in my tank but it seems to be great because they are going to town on that carpet algae which I have been battling with over the past few months. When they are done with that, I have a nice African Cichlid in another tank to feed them to.

    Help me identify my fish...

Hey, are these guys called Convicts because their stripes resemble prison stripes from the old uniforms they used to wear in prison?

Nice fish. Kinda looks like a Cichlid. Can't really tell from that angle though.
