Extremely high nitrates (80 ppm or more)...

So I hadn't been keeping up to speed with my water changes lately, and one of my Zebra Danios developed a curved spine. I have tested the water and nitrates are at least 80 ppm upon testing with my API test kit. 1. I am wondering if there is such a thing as too much water changing? I already...

Would a sick fish prefer the tank lights to be kept off?

So one of my zebra danios is sick and I just put him in his own quarantine tank. I was thinking it'd be more relaxing to him to keep the tank lights off for most of the day. I have never read anything about this, but I mean, when we are sick we prefer to lay in bed and relax and not go out...

My Danios got himself stuck in one of my plants

So I just had the craziest experience I've had in my 6 months of fish keeping. I came home and didn't see my red glo fish danio. I looked around my tank a little and I saw a red thing under my plants (in their "roots") and it wasn't moving at all. I thought he was dead! So I lifted up the...

I now have snails for the first time

Cool guys. I think I'll research assassin snails and if My tank can handle them (which it should ... I have a 20 gallon long with the only Inhabitants being my six zebra danios) and their requirements dont look too harsh, then u can just pick one or two of them up.

I now have snails for the first time

Here's a pic of the three of them next to some of my gravel stones. As you can see they are about the same size as one of my average gravel stones.

I now have snails for the first time

So I bought some plants from a guy a month ago and today i noticed a snail in my tank...and then i started searching more thoroughly and saw two more. A few questions: 1. What kind are they...they are basically pea sized and are brown/reddish color with black spots and black patches on them...

Do most plants need their rhizome to get light or that just with Anubias?

I see , thanks. so most other plants can be placed with their roots under my gravel ?

Do most plants need their rhizome to get light or that just with Anubias?

Quick question here. So I now know that the Anubias rhizome is supposed to above the substrate so that it can get light. Is this an exception or is this true a requirement with most other plants as well?

    NLS pellets for Danios?

Hey, does anyone have any experience using the NLS pellets for Danios? If so, what size and type are good? The reason I ask is they may be too big for my adolescent (about three months old) Danios...even the flakes I use sometimes are too big for them if I don't crush them up enough.

    Guorami and Platy's

I'm kinda confused, lol. So you had 3 gouramis? 1. The blue one that died 2. The honey gourami that is a bully and 3. dwarf gourami? Or is the honey gourami a dwarf gourami?

    Keeping Track of Feeding

LOL. Well to the OP, yeah, the pill box idea doesn't sound bad. If I had 5 tanks I would probably do something like that.

    AquaClear vs Fluval

Hmm...maybe that's what happened. I don't think the water in my tank would have gotten below the bottom of the intake tube.

    AquaClear vs Fluval

The last time I did a Pwc I didn't even touch my aquaclear hob filter. I can't ever remember what it did to be honest lol. I don't think it even stopped, or else I would have noticed it stop. But maybe it did. I have no idea lol Hopefully I didn't damage its motor or anything by not...

Does anyone know what the best floating plant for beginners would be?

    Anubias with actinics

Update: My Anubias are actually fine, so ignore the above post :). The "dark patches" that I saw were actually just brown algae that was easily cleaned off of the leaves (I noticed this just now as today I did a big water change and cleaned my gravel and stuff). This is great news for...
