It shouldnt be the bulk of his diet but it shouldnt be problematic. As long as you keep feeding him a balanced pellet source and varied other foods, he should be fine.

It will not give you as accurate readings. The expiry date is usually a good indicator of when the chemicals inside the bottles might lose their properties, form new compounds and/or simply dissolve in the air or something else.

Highly doubt it had anything to do with aggression, mostly that if the oscar is hungry, itll just swallow whole anything that fits.

I will add that water changes are not necessary in fishless cycles, but will help if youre trying to keep your ammonia in line.

Definitely do small water changes if this is a fishless aquarium cycle. Ive found that the sweet spot is about 2-3ppm of ammonia for the fastest and most efficient cycle. Also, this will allow proper oxygenation for the bacteria to thrive as well. Nothing too drastic, 10% should suffice.

I'd be interested in putting a single or maybe 2 or 3 bigger sided fish but I don't feel a single oscar in a 120 would really fill it. Maybe a good pair of oscars in a 120 or some other nice predator fish.

As said, worry more about your parameters than about the feeding, they'll be fine.
