    salinity

Thanks for the great advice everyone. You're all awesome!! I'll leave my sg at 1.025. Now I'm a firm believer that LFS's give bad advice just to help profits. Go Figure!

    salinity

My LFS keeps their saltwater fish in 1.018 SG and recommended the same to me. Me SG is 1.025. Should I gradually lower it to 1.018? Isn't the Ph more stable at 1.025?

    What's the right salinity?

Hello all, quick question. Just out of curosity, I asked my LFS manager what SG they keep their SW fish in and they told me 1.018 and recommended the same to me. They even have some LR and LS in their tanks. I was told that this SG is healthier for the fish in the long run and it won't harm LR...

    cloudy water

Hello, I just set up a 150 gallon freshwater tank about a month and a half ago. I already have some fish in it. However, the water just won't clear up. It's not too cloudy, but it just has that light milky cloud which is enough to make he tank an eye sore. The tank has about three inches of...

    brooklynella problem

Hello all. My parents don't have access to a computer. They have a 150 gallon FOWLR system. About two weeks ago, they got a 3" maroon clown. The fish is in a 10 gallon QT treated with cupramine and the salinity is 1.021 and the temp is 78 degrees. Anyway, they noticed that the fish is starting...

    Molly Not Look'in so Good

I have mollies that are not doing good, either. They are infected with internal parasites, I think. Their poo is whitish and stringy. I'm going to treat them with Jungle's parasite clear since it treats internal parasites. Has anyone had good results with this med?

    Important Internal Parasites Question!!

Quick question. I have a 10 gallon tank with live bearers that are not doing good. I think they have internal parasites since their poo is white and stringy and look skinny. If I postpone treatment any longer, I'm afraid I might lose my fish!! I tried garlic but my fish don't really eat enough...

I have a problem with livebearing fish

I'm having a problem with my mollies and playies in my 10 gallon community. They do fine for a while and then all of a sudden they get stringy poo and start to lose weight and eventualy die. I went to my lfs and they told methat it was internal parasites of some kind and they recommended...

    Another Ich question

If ich was present in your main tank, you should remove all fish and QT them for 6 to 8 weeks. Also raise the temp to 82 to 86 degrees in the fishless main. This helps speeds up the life cycle of the parasite so there's a better chance the parasite will die off within 6 to 8 weeks. In the...

    QT problem

I had a yellow longnose butterfly in qt for 10 days now. He had no ich on him when I first got him. However, he is now covered with ich.The funny thing is the SG is 1.008-9, the temp is set at 82 degrees and there is coppersafe in the water. He still eats pretty good but I don't understand why...

    copperband b'fly, interested in 1

I just did a little research and I found out that copperbands from Australia do better than those from the Phillipines because they use cyanide to catch them in the Phillipines- NOT GOOD. That's another question I'll ask the lfs before I buy 1.
