That’s too bad. They are my favorite fish. Don’t know if this helps but the only thing unusual about my tank (I think) is my pH is about 7.5.

Ottos do better in groups and are not the most hardy of fish. Merited snails are nice for algae and are interesting. Nerite snails.

I think you are doing everything you can for your fish and you should feel proud of that. Honestly I have never had a fish live for very long after it once becomes sick but do all you can and see what happens. Keep us posted.
