I'm curious. You may have posted this earlier and I missed it, but did you have any electrical work done to prepare for the extra power draw of all those heaters and lights? I assume you must have 150-200W heaters in each of those tanks...

thanks Jonathan! I ended up doing a 60% PWC, rinsing the filter media and moving the output to along the waterline. Everything seems to be back to normal now. Cheers, Jef

That's an interesting point. I wonder if I should redirect the filter output closer to the top of the tank so that it agitates the surface more? It's one of the outputs that's about a 15" long tube with holes every inch or so. Right now it's directed through the center of the tank.

Really? Only an inch? They're pretty close to that already (they've probably been around for a while and I just missed them), I'd say 3/4 inch or so.
