i started with a south american tank... and i was specific to the point of ridiculousness. i only wanted species from the orinoco river basin!
i've since given up that "mission" and now i also have some asian plants in my tank. they're so much easier to care for and i've re-converted my...
without a doubt, by any traditional means of calculating how many fish to keep in an aquarium, my tank is overstocked.
i have a 20G high, planted with a 15W life-glo bulb. i have in the last 7 months accumulated the following fish:
8 Cardinals
7 Red Phantoms
6 Lemon Tetras
2 Bolivian Rams

i have the same nasty stuff growing in my tank and i attribute it to low CO2. i tried a 3 day blackout and it didn't work. (worked amazingly one other time on BGA though)
i'm fiddling with my CO2 setup to try and improve it now...

my fish are on an exclusively flake food diet simply because they won't eat anything else. i've tried brine shrimp, blood worms, sinking pellets, zucchini and peas and they won't touch any of it.

i was also considering getting an SAE to see if that...
oh i forgot to add that no matter what i try, my CO2 levels are too low. they're about 6... i've tried everything to raise the levels, tested all the equipment - i'm at a loss.
my light are on only 9 hours a day at this point. the algae is a light brownish colour.
i have a 20 gallon planted tank. 65W lighting, 2 DIY CO2 bottles going, dosing with greg watson ferts, weekly 50% PWC's.
i have either hair or fuzz algae covering nearly half my plants plus some black looking algae on a couple of plant leaves.
i really am about to give up and pull all the...
does the mag float really work? the algae in the picture is pretty hard to get off the glass using the algae brush and/or paper towel that i use during weekly maintenance.
