depends on your lighting and what type of plants you have sand very good for root plants but i have gravel in my planted tank..30 gallons T5 lights are very good for starter plant tanks. as for co2 just like trees take in CO2 and poop out o2 lol..you can buy a co2 injector or use seachums co2...
yup your still cycling no need to change ur water yet if you have no ammonia readings yet.. a fish in cycle tank may take a few months mine took a month and a half
